Frequently asked questions
Can I misfuel a BMW i4?
There is no petrol or diesel tank. Risk is limited to adding the wrong fluid to the washer reservoir or other caps — never use the charging port for anything except charging.
What if petrol is poured into a BMW i4 charging port?
Do not charge. Isolate the vehicle, contact BMW roadside assistance or a high-voltage-qualified workshop. Contamination of HV components is a serious safety issue under HSWA 2015 and the Health and Safety at Work (Hazardous Substances) Regulations 2017.
Does wrong fuel affect BMW electric vehicle warranty?
Liquid contamination of electrical systems is not a manufacturing defect and is typically excluded from warranty. Document remediation by a qualified technician.
Is AdBlue relevant to the BMW i4?
Not applicable — this model has no diesel exhaust fluid system.
