Lotus Eletre

Fuel Contamination Remediation Standards

⚠️ Lotus Eletre — Not applicable misfuel risk

No fuel filler for petrol or diesel. Wrong petroleum fluid in washer or other reservoirs still needs safe recovery.

If the engine was not started

Do not energise drivetrain if unknown petroleum liquid entered HV cooling loops — call dealer.

If the engine was started

Stop using vehicle; OEM inspection of affected circuits and cooling.

⚠️ Lotus position — Eletre

Follow OEM high-voltage safety procedures; contamination of non-fuel reservoirs per workshop manual.

OEM access procedure

  1. Identify which reservoir was filled incorrectly (e.g. washer fluid in coolant — not a misfuel but similar recovery workflow).
  2. Depower HV system per OEM lock-out/tag-out before work near electrical components.
  3. Drain or extract incorrect fluid, flush if specified, refill with correct specification.
  4. Verify no petroleum vapour in cabin — ventilate per HSWA 2015 and Hazardous Substances Regulations.
  5. Dispose of waste fluids under NZ hazardous waste duty of care via licensed carrier.
  6. Clear diagnostic faults and confirm 12 V system health before release.

Additional notes

  • Charge port is separate from any legacy fuel cap — educate drivers on home charging only.
