Polestar manufacturer position
Polestar is Geely's electric performance brand sold in New Zealand with Volvo-derived platforms. NZ models are battery electric without petrol or diesel tanks; risks focus on washer fluid, coolant, or other liquids in the wrong reservoirs near high-voltage components.
Fuel system notes
- Polestar 2 and 3 are BEV — CCS charging for traction energy.
- High-voltage disable required before fluid service near power electronics.
- AdBlue not applicable — not diesel propulsion.

Frequently asked questions
What should I do if I put the wrong fuel in my Polestar?
Do not start the engine or turn the ignition on if the lift pump may prime. Arrange recovery to an NZIFDA certified technician and follow OEM service information for tank draining and inspection.
Does Polestar warranty cover misfuel damage in New Zealand?
No. Fuel contamination is treated as misuse and is excluded under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 manufacturer remedies. Keep drainage invoices for insurance or Motor Vehicle Disputes Tribunal records.
Can fuel be siphoned from the filler neck on a Polestar?
OEM service information documents recovery via the fuel pump module and/or tank removal with approved equipment — not filler-neck siphoning. NZIFDA certified work follows those procedures.
