OEM access procedure
- Do not start the engine. Disconnect the negative battery cable per Honda service information.
- Relieve fuel system pressure using the OEM-specified procedure (often fuse removal for the fuel pump, then crank without starting).
- Access the fuel pump module via the OEM fuel pump access panel when equipped, or lower the tank per workshop manual if no panel exists.
- Disconnect fuel lines using quick-connect procedures in the service manual; contain vapours and bond/ground per Health and Safety at Work (Hazardous Substances) Regulations 2017.
- Drain remaining fuel from the tank using approved recovery equipment; label containers and dispose of contaminated fuel per HSWA 2015, HSNO Act 1996, Waste Minimisation Act 2008, and regional council hazardous waste rules.
- Inspect the tank, pump, and sender for contamination; replace the fuel filter per OEM guidance.
- Reinstall components, reconnect lines, and prime the fuel system before a supervised first start per OEM instructions.
