Isuzu prescribes fuel tank removal as the procedure for accessing fuel tank contents.
Isuzu diesel vehicles are particularly sensitive to fuel contamination. Warranty excludes damage from fuel contamination. NZIFDA certified technicians follow Isuzu service manual procedures.

⚠️ Isuzu Diesel - High Misfuel Risk Warning
Isuzu D-Max is one of the most commonly misfuelled vehicles in New Zealand. All D-Max and MU-X models are diesel-only and feature:
- Common rail diesel injection - Extremely sensitive to petrol contamination
- High-pressure fuel pump - Can fail catastrophically with wrong fuel
- Piezoelectric injectors - Very expensive to replace if damaged
If Petrol Has Been Added:
- Do NOT start the engine
- Do NOT turn ignition to RUN
- Contact NZIFDA certified technician immediately
- Full tank drop and system flush required
Isuzu Commercial Trucks
Isuzu commercial trucks (N-Series, F-Series) require specialist knowledge for fuel contamination remediation:
- Larger fuel tank capacities (up to 400L+)
- Multiple tank configurations on some models
- AdBlue/DEF systems requiring separate attention
- Higher volumes of contaminated fuel to dispose of
NZIFDA certified technicians with commercial vehicle endorsement are recommended for truck fuel contamination.
