Jaguar F-TYPE

Fuel Contamination Remediation Standards

⚠️ Jaguar F-TYPE — Moderate misfuel risk

Petrol JLR models — diesel in petrol is less common but can cause rough running, smoke, and catalyst damage if driven.

If the engine was not started

Do not start the engine or turn the ignition to RUN. Do not drive. Arrange NZIFDA-certified drainage before contamination reaches the high-pressure pump. Keep receipts for contaminated fuel disposal (regional council and Waste Minimisation Act 2008 requirements).

If the engine was started

If a diesel quantity was driven in a petrol engine, stop as soon as safe. Flush the tank, replace filters, and inspect spark plugs and catalytic converter for smoke or misfire; follow TOPIx if OBD faults persist.

⚠️ Jaguar position — F-TYPE

JLR TOPIx documents fuel tank removal and pump access. Warranty excludes misfuel-related damage. Follow HSWA 2015 and Hazardous Substances Regulations 2017 controls when draining fuel indoors.

Frequently asked questions

What should I do if I put petrol in my Jaguar F-TYPE diesel?

Do not start the engine. Petrol in diesel destroys HPFP lubrication on common-rail TDIs. Call a NZIFDA-certified technician to drain the tank via the OEM access method and dispose of waste fuel legally.

Can I drive my F-TYPE to the garage after misfuelling?

No — even a few hundred metres can draw petrol into the high-pressure system. Recovery without starting is the safest option.

Where is the AdBlue filler on diesel F-TYPE?

AdBlue is separate from diesel — blue cap, smaller neck. Never add fuel to the AdBlue tank; contamination requires specialist cleaning per TOPIx.
