Porsche manufacturer position
Porsche sells sports cars, SUVs, and the Taycan battery electric vehicle in New Zealand. Direct-injection petrol engines dominate; some Cayenne diesel models remain in the NZ used fleet. Porsche PIWIS documents fuel tank draining; contamination is warranty-excluded.
Fuel system notes
- Many Porsches require 95–98 octane premium petrol in NZ.
- Cayenne/Macan share VW Group fuel module designs with parallel erWin steps.
- Taycan has no fuel tank — see model page for fluid contamination only.

Frequently asked questions
What should I do if I put the wrong fuel in my Porsche?
Do not start the engine or turn the ignition on if the lift pump may prime. Arrange recovery to an NZIFDA certified technician and follow OEM service information for tank draining and inspection.
Does Porsche warranty cover misfuel damage in New Zealand?
No. Fuel contamination is treated as misuse and is excluded under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 manufacturer remedies. Keep drainage invoices for insurance or Motor Vehicle Disputes Tribunal records.
Can fuel be siphoned from the filler neck on a Porsche?
OEM service information documents recovery via the fuel pump module and/or tank removal with approved equipment — not filler-neck siphoning. NZIFDA certified work follows those procedures.
