SEAT manufacturer position
SEAT is not currently sold new through a full NZ dealer network but SEAT-badged VW Group vehicles appear as private imports and traveller registrations. They share MQB fuel hardware with Volkswagen and ŠKODA; ELSApro governs tank draining.
Fuel system notes
- Treat as VW Group MQB for pump access and anti-siphon rules.
- Common used Japanese import in NZ is uncommon for SEAT — mostly European imports.
- Misfuel damage excluded from any remaining factory warranty.

Frequently asked questions
What should I do if I put the wrong fuel in my SEAT?
Do not start the engine or turn the ignition on if the lift pump may prime. Arrange recovery to an NZIFDA certified technician and follow OEM service information for tank draining and inspection.
Does SEAT warranty cover misfuel damage in New Zealand?
No. Fuel contamination is treated as misuse and is excluded under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 manufacturer remedies. Keep drainage invoices for insurance or Motor Vehicle Disputes Tribunal records.
Can fuel be siphoned from the filler neck on a SEAT?
OEM service information documents recovery via the fuel pump module and/or tank removal with approved equipment — not filler-neck siphoning. NZIFDA certified work follows those procedures.
