Audi manufacturer position
Audi is the premium brand of Volkswagen Group, sold in New Zealand through authorised Audi dealers. Petrol TFSI and TDI diesel models share VW Group fuel systems with anti-siphon fillers. Fuel contamination is excluded from warranty; drainage follows ELSApro via pump module access or tank removal.
Fuel system notes
- NZ-market A3, A4, Q5 and Q7 commonly use TDI diesels — petrol in diesel is the critical misfuel.
- AdBlue filler is separate on TDI models; do not confuse with the diesel neck.
- Capless or anti-siphon fillers — neck siphoning is not an ELSA procedure.

Frequently asked questions
What should I do if I put the wrong fuel in my Audi?
Do not start the engine or turn the ignition on if the lift pump may prime. Arrange recovery to an NZIFDA certified technician and follow OEM service information for tank draining and inspection.
Does Audi warranty cover misfuel damage in New Zealand?
No. Fuel contamination is treated as misuse and is excluded under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 manufacturer remedies. Keep drainage invoices for insurance or Motor Vehicle Disputes Tribunal records.
Can fuel be siphoned from the filler neck on an Audi?
OEM service information documents recovery via the fuel pump module and/or tank removal with approved equipment — not filler-neck siphoning. NZIFDA certified work follows those procedures.
